pics of my honey and i....

well i have some more pics to scrapbook. jon and i got our pics done. here are 2 of them.

happy birthday dad...

well today would have been my dad's 59th birthday. he passed away a few months after his 55th birthday. man i miss him. it is somewhat of a somber day. i am going sometime today by myself for a walk at the cemetary and bringing some flowers to the grave. i guess it is a good day for the way i feel. it isn't that sunny, leaves are blowing a bit, there is a slight chill in the air.

happy birthday dad! i miss you so much! i would give you a BIG hug if i could!

where do you want to go?

i am not a real traveller by any stretch and probably won't go to far as jon spends so much time flying and staying in hotels that he doesn't like doing it when he doesn't work. so, needless to say, going on a trip is not usually in my thoughts. not with the family like that anyways. i have thought about it lately though. we are planning on going with some good friends of ours and their 3 boys to puerto vallarta, mexico in march. definately not my first choice by any stretch.

here would be my top picks...

  • holland (would love to see the windmills, the clogs, the flowers in bloom and the amazing shopping)
  • cruise ship (not a trip i would want to do with kids)
  • disneyworld (been to disneyland many times so disneyworld would be fun to see)
  • new orleans (not sure if i would want to see it now after the destruction but that was always a place i wanted to see)
  • nova scotia (always wanted to see the maritimes)
  • australia (be very cool to see)
  • hawaii (never been! i think i am the only person i know who has not been there)
where do you want to go?

not us!

i have had a few people ask me what i do with my friends because i see them so much. well...we hang out, scrapbook, go to movies, watch videos, have a few drinks and go out for dinner and when we get real bored.... just kidding!

touched by but didn't meet...

last night jon and i watched the show on what is happening with dog the bounty hunter. after that we saw the memorial service for crocodile hunter, steve irwin. i tell you i was so emotional last night. i am sure pms was a factor but it didn't help. i had a good cry. i started to think about the people's deaths who had an effect on my life even though i had never met them. i came up with 4 and for different reasons.

steve irwin (crocodile hunter) 1962-2006

i have been watching him on t.v. entertain us for about 8 years. i remember watching him when my son was born. we thought he was crazy but so positive. i felt like i knew him right away. he reminded me of my dad. he was always so happy, positive and so funny. he had a great sense of humour and no fear at all. i watched him grow into a great dad in front of us. i watched bindi and bob as they grew up. i felt like i knew him even though it was just though the t.v. he seemed like a great person. i thought terri was a very lucky lady to have such a great guy. he will be forever missed by his fans.

river phoenix 1970-1993

i remember being at a donair joint at lunch on my lunch break and seeing on the t.v. there that "river phoenix dead halloween night at the age of 23". my jaw dropped! i couldn't believe someone the same age as me like that was gone. he was an amazing actor and and always seemed to be beyond his years. drug overdose? he did drugs? i was very naive i guess. he died at johnny depp's club? wow! joaquin phoenix and flea (red hot chili peppers) and his girlfriend samantha mathis were all there. joaquin called 911? i remember that like yesterday. i had a teeny-bopper crush on him as a teenager. i couldn't believe such a cool guy like that was gone. i had seen his movie "the thing called love" a couple weeks before.

princess diana 1961-1997

i grew up wishing i could be as beautiful as princess diana. it all started with all the hype around her 1980 marriage to prince charles. i remember as a 9 year old girl watching the horse drawn carriage bring her to westminster abbey. when she got out we got to see the beautiful lady diana spencer get out. she was absolutely breathtaking. i remember it to this day. i watched as she had children and watched her become a wonderful mom with her 2 boys. i remember the morning i woke up that august day and heard on every channel that princess diana has died. i immediately felt so sorry for her 2 boys.

john f. kennedy jr. 1960-1999

he was the sexiest man alive. he was absolutely gorgeous. he had an amazing family that everyone knew and admired. he was a business man and not only that he was a bachelor for a very long time. when he married caroline bessette, so many women around the world grieved because they now no longer had a chance (ha,ha). i remember that day when they said that his plane was missing. he was flying vfr and the weather was bad. i knew that was not a good sign. i have a pilot husband and i worked in aviation too so that wasn't good news to hear. when they found a plane off the coast you knew for sure they had to still be in it. such a great man was gone just like that. he could have been a future president. so many people had so many dreams for him i am sure. he had big boots to fill and i always felt bad for him because of that. he started up george magazine and who could forget that first front cover of cindy crawford wearing an outfit that resembled george washington? george disappeared after jfk jr. was gone.

these are the 4 people whose deaths really seemed to affect me. i will never forget watching the challenger crash in 1986 as well. i was in science class when we watched it and no one will ever forget 9/11.

what has affected you?

look at what i found...

i found my head in a photo posted on a site i checked out on the web. i know it was me because i remember someone taking a photo and i sat next to this lady in this class. very strange!

been tagged by michelle...

well i have been tagged by michelle so i guess i had better get my butt into gear and do this.

5 weird things about myelf.

...man, only 5? (bwah,ha,ha)

1. when i was younger (much younger), i used to chew my toenails.
2. i am very awkward because i am so tall and very uncoordinated, but i can stick both my legs behind my head (because i am so tall)
3. my left foot is a size and a half smaller than my right foot
4. i am a very organized person and a clean freak but when it comes to my appearance sometimes and my clothes, i am somewhat of a slob.
5. i am a tomboy and always have been. i sometimes like the appearance of guys clothes better than girls clothes. yes, i am straight. (not that there is anything wrong with not being straight, but i am straight).

okay...now isn't that all embarrasing.

lets tag some of my friends that weren't tagged by michelle.

1. corry
2. karlynn
3. tammy
4. elsa
5. ki

hard day for everyone....

it was 5 years ago today. hard to believe. i remember it well. my sister called me at about 8 a.m. and told me to turn on the t.v. i said "what channel?" and she replied with "it doesn't matter which one". i saw the first tower smoking and then watched as the 2nd plane flew into the tower. we were glued to the t.v. and watched the whole thing. i thought it was a joke and it couldn't be real. i had just had my baby girl not even 2 months before. i wondered to myself "what have i done bringing another life into this frightening and scary world?" my husband was next to me on a day off and was in shock and somewhat scared. he was a pilot and knew that no pilot would intentionally crash a plane into a building, especially not in manhattan and how could it happen twice? thank god jon was home for the day as the world was grounded for a few days. as a result, jon lost his job as no one was flying anymore. everyone was scared to. can you blame them? we had won a trip to mexico earlier in the year and decided to go to mexico and get away from it all. we sold our house while we were in mexico as now neither of us had a job. the day after we sold our house canada 3000 went under and jon's company decided that due to the fact canada 3000 was no longer around they were going to get busier so jon was re-hired. we then had to buy a new home. wow....it was a whirlwind. 9/11 really changed our lives. we didn't lose a loved one but it really affected our day to day life. after my son who was almost 3 at the time kept seeing planes crashing into a building, he was scared to let dad go to work. it was a scary time. now 5 years later, it is still scary to have jon go to work. he works out of the uk as well so all these terrorist plans and attacks scare us very much. i was on the cnn web site and found this site click here as it is a great memorial to the heroes of 9/11. it really puts things into perspective. it is very informative and very emotional. there were a bunch of kids that were killed on the planes. the youngest was 2. rest in peace. may we one day be able to end terrorism and live in a world of peace.

i still have this copy of people from 5 years ago.

some photos of our summer...

here are just a few of the 600 + photos of our summer. Posted by Picasa

love these pics...

i loved these pics from the last couple weeks.

had a great time!

we are back and man did we have fun! we saw
so many mountains, waterfalls, family and even friends! janna and her family were in banff when we were there so we went for dinner and watersliding. we had a blast. lots of fun on this holiday. can't believe summer break is over.

school starts tomorrow and i can't believe my
l
ittle baby is going into kindergarten. wow! where did the time go. she is so happy. she already knows kids in her class. the little girl across the street is in her class. so that makes things easier. she has a great teacher also! b is mixed about going to his class. we heard he has a good teacher but i had heard the other teacher would have been better for him. i was told she has a softer touch. he was pretty upset 2 of his friends are not in his class. one of them, his buddy marcus is in his class. so he was happy about that.

i did a bunch of scrapbooking with janna the night before we went on holidays. i have to post it on Love 2 Scrap yet. busy, busy with orders, school preparation, scrapfest coming, retreats coming, soccer registration, scouts and sparks registration as well as swimming, bowling and gymnastics. yikes! busy! glad i am back to a routine though!

glad to be home.
