My baby is 5....

I can't believe my baby turned 5 last week! She is such a big girl now. She thinks she is a diva and has attitude and spunk more than most other kids I know. She is a real sweetie though! I can't believe she is going to real school this fall either. Where did the time go? I am happy she is going, (don't get me wrong) she is so ready for it. She was ready for it last year. Mom need the break and needs to get back to the gym too! We had an awesome time this past weekend her and I. B was in Jasper with my sister so L and I had a girls weekend. On Friday we went to Monster House and shopping. Hated Monster House by the way. Scary for the kids and the plot/story line would be over most kids' heads. On Saturday we hung out, played games, did yard work and went to Janna's birthday. Oh, can't forget we scrapbooked too! Sunday we took it easy and did laundry together. The highlight of the weekend, she got to sleep with Mom in Mom's bed.

RAK......who is game?

The person who gives me the closest answer to this question will win a great goodie bag from me personally.

What year did I move to Sherwood Park? (I am not talking recently). I lived here before I got married and had kids.

I will wait for you to post your answers and let you know after the long weekend, August 8th.

Good luck!

Is it weird?

I can't stand watermelon. Don't like the taste and find spitting out all those seeds, even the seedless ones to be a lot of work. My kids don't like it and neither does my husband. We tend to buy it a lot when my kids have to bring snack to soccer. I seem very drawn to it because I love the colors of it. My 2 favorite colors, green and pink. I love looking at it. Love the smell but to eat...ick!

Now, corn....love corn on the cob! can't wait for the Taber corn to come out.

Gone until 07/24...

I am off tomorrow to Drumheller for a week to test out our new trailer and have a break! I can't wait. So much to do here it feels overwhelming at times!
For anyone who has never been to Drumheller it is going to be HOT and dry! We are in the land of the dinosaurs. I plan to go on a tour of the Atlas Coal Mine as well.

For those of you that wanted to see photos of our new trailer here they are. Our interior colours and upholstery is much nicer. We have cream with burgundy, dark blue and a green. We bought a Keystone Zeppelin 2 model 303.

Exciting stuff happening...

We have some exciting things happening soon. We have some more online chats with some amazing scrapbook celebs. We have Ali Edwards doing one in September before Scrapfest.
We have some more in the works. We have a great contest right now with Elsie Flannigan. Elsie is such a sweetheart and wanted to give the winner an autographed copy of her new book 52 Scrapbooking Challenges. We have some exclusive kits from letters by janna coming to Love 2 Scrap.
Many of great things coming very soon! Keep checking L2S. It is the place to be!

Labour Shortage...

This is my gripe or should I say worry lately. Everyone knows we have a labour hortage here in Canada. As I was looking on the web I find it is not just in Canada but a worldwide labour shortage. We really noticed it while on holidays this passed 11 days. We went to a couple fast food restaurants while were were on the highway and noticed it for sure in Red Deer. We went to one McDonald's. As we were pulling our travel trailer we could not go through the drive thru. I went in and there must have been a line up of 30 people and 2 people at the register. So, we left and went across the road (Gasoline Alley) to the other McDonald's. I got out of the vehicle to go in to notice that the inside was closed due to labout shortage so you had to go thru the drive thru which was 14 cars long and not an option for us. My kids then opted for Wendy's of which had the same problem as the last McDonald's. We had to wait to get food from the McDonald's in Innisfail (20 minutes down the road).

Our Taco Bell in Sherwood Park closed down because no one would work there. There was always people there to eat but not to work. Their drive thru has been closed for a long time. This was my favorite fast food restaurant so I wasn't happy to see this one go. Fast food restaurants are now paying their employees $12-$17 per hour depending on location. That is insane! Some are even giving their new employees money towards their secondary education. I worked at McDonald's when I was 17 (only for about 8 months) and made only $5.25 an hour. It was to this day (besides being a parent), the hardest job I had. They were very strict and had set rules which I thought were great. White runners only, earrings on boys had to be covered or removed, hair nets for anyone with long hair, no baggy long pants on anyone, clothes had to be fitted, no eating in front of the customers, "if you got time to lean you got time to clean" , no hanging around or talking on the phone in your uniform and no smoking around the building in your uniform. What happened? I got a meal the other day from a boy about 15 or 16, his pants were hanging so low I wasn't sure why the laws of gravity hadn't pulled them down yet, his hair was a ton longer than mine and probably in my Big Mac, his clothes were filthy and I am sure he was drinking a pop at the till right before I ordered. Sad thing is.....we bitch and complain but we still go back!

I won't even get to the labout shortage for trades.

I know the economy is going to crash and everything is going to go back to where it was. Will everyone be prepared? Will this overpaid, spoiled teenagers who for the most part I think are lazy be able to cope? I sure hope so.

This is my venting for the week. I am Renee A. and this is my 2 cents worth!

In the Mountains and Don't Want to Go Home...

it is so beautiful here. We were in Stettler at Ol' MacDonald's as we go every year for Canada Day. It was fun as always. We were with our friends Jeff & Lisa and their kids. On Monday we came to Nordegg to be met by forest fires. The town of Nordegg was evacuated due to fires. The fires never hit town but the town is still evacuated. We are camping at David Thompson Resort right now and having fun. We went to Lake Louise for a day, went horseback riding, went on a 8 km walk (L even did it which surprised me), sat in the bottom of a almost drained out reservoir/lake and had a picnic lunch and watched the kids swim. It has been fun. We all have had a lot of sun and have some killer tans! We have went to the campers pub here and done karaoke every night including the kids. Jeff & Lisa are off to BC tomorrow and I am trying to convince Jon to go to Em-T-Town in Alder Flats for a couple days. Very fun holiday~
